Awaiting the Arrival of Baby Jackson!!

This weekend was Sarah's baby shower...so I was back to all things blue and boyish. So much fun!! I love getting a chance to get together with this group of girls - luckily for us, about twice a year someone is getting married/engaged/pregnant...it works out well for everyone. Haha. It was a semi-rainy day, but that does not stop this group from dressing to the nines and gathering around for a good time. Jenni was nice enough to host everyone at her house and we just had a blast. It was so fun to see Sarah and her big belly - I saw her when she was about 14 weeks pregnant and of course to anyone else besides herself, she did not look pregnant at all. Now she is all belly and its so adorable. Hard to believe she still has 12 weeks to go!!! She looks great and she is just so happy. Needless to say, we are all anxiously awaiting the arrival of Jackson Bruce and then of course, the impending trip to Fultondale, Alabama that will happen in order to meet the little man!

Texas Forever!!

I have officially gotten hooked on the TV show Friday Night Lights. I realize that they are in like the 5th season now and I am super behind, but oh my goodness I don't even care because I am so involved now. I borrowed the first and second seasons from Amber and I spent about 3 days in a row doing nothing but watching the entire first season. Luckily for me it was cold and rainy so I wasn't feeling like I needed to make excuses to not go anywhere simply because I was rooted to my couch. It is filmed in Austin which I think is another reason I am so fascinated by it. It is also about high school football in Texas and so it is very relatable for me having been a high school cheerleader in Texas.

You get wrapped up in the characters from the very first episode and they are all endearing and lovable in their own way. I am definitely attached!! Haha.

Also, they come up to the hospital to visit my kids a lot - I guess because they are "famous." So at least now I will know who they are and can appreciate that a little more. In the past, someone saying that Riggins from Friday Night Lights was here, meant absolutely nothing to me. Except the fact that he is an attractive girl walking around the unit :)

Linds reminded me of the Target Lady...

And although it is an old sketch, I think we could all use a little Target lady in our lives....and Peg too of course :)

First Day of School!!

Today was the big first day of school!! I survived and it was so strange being back in a classroom. I was ready though - spectacles on, pen poised, bottled water in hand. Classes are always pretty tame on the first day, just handing out the syllabus and moving on pretty much. So needless to say, I don't really have much of an opinion, nor was it a tough day at all. I decided to go ahead and make the most of the day and try and get a lot done. It was such a treat to not have any commitments besides school. Went for another run - felt really great today finally!! I am actually getting used to it and I think that this Capitol 10k might be something I can really do. I was able to go to the grocery store, the bank, the pet store...I was just knocking things out left and right. It was a lovely productive day.

Then it came to a screeching halt!! I got a burrito and sat on my couch to watch American Idol and I have not moved since. Idol was only an hour tonight which was disappointing and now I am wrapped up in The Millionaire Matchmaker.

Class again tomorrow bright and early at 8am...oh good!! I did okay not getting lost on this huge UT campus today, but the Nursing building is off by itself and very easy to find so that wasn't really a problem. Tomorrow might be a different story, as I have classes in other buildings!! I also am that slacker student who has yet to get my books or anything. Oops.

Happy Birthday to my besties - Sarah and Kat!! So excited to see them both this weekend and celebrate. Sarah gets in from Alabama for her baby shower on Saturday. We are going to have the best time and I cannot wait to see her belly and baby Jackson inside!! A great end to my week :)

The Curse was broken and then we lost...

Well, a disappointing day if you are a Cowboys fan...which we all know I am. I have been pumped up all week for the Cowboys game against the Vikings today, and then I was crushed. Just like my Boys were. I guess my saving grace was that we didn't have a chance...it was over before it began. The Vikings came to win...the home crowd was loud and everyone was just really fired up. The Cowboys looked a little panicky and nervous at first. Fumbling, turnovers, missed field goals. It was pretty painful to watch. We just couldn't do anything right to save our lives and the Vikings could only do things right. So, alas...our season has come to an end. Looks like I will just have to start counting down for the next 7 months....wah wah.

I am officially rooting for the Saints to take it all the way now. I really do believe they deserve it, plus it will make my dad happy!!

In other news, I worked all day...it went by swimmingly and I have to go back tomorrow and then school on Tuesday. Insane. I am excited to get going, I think it is going to be so fun and challenging and exciting.

Jana and Sharen are forcing me to run the Austin Capitol 10k...forcing!! So I am officially in training for that. We did 4 miles yesterday and I wanted to die. I am going to try and go at least 3 more times this week, but that is dreaming pretty big for me. I just dont want to be the complete loser during the race...the competitor in me always wins :)

Hook 'em Horns??

Well, its official...the tuition bill has been paid and I am definitely a Longhorn now. Its weird and amazing all at the same time. Had you told me 10 years ago this is where I would be in my life, I am not sure I would have agreed with you. Its just such a funny thing to think that as of tuesday, I will be attending the University of Texas. Probably would have been cooler if we had just won the National Championship :)

I am super excited to start classes and to focus on things that are so interesting and important to me. Well, nursing ethics doesn't necessarily just grab me and pull me in, but a class about life and death decision making does. I know its going to be a busy few years, but I am looking forward to the end result and to just being able to open up new doors for myself. I have not been a full time student in years so I definitely think it will be an adjustment. I am being so blessed by my parents and their willingness to help me out which is allowing me to drop down to working only one or two days a week. Its a strange thing to be 28 and dependent on a check from your parents again, but I am so so grateful to find myself in this situation.

Its gong to be busy, its going to be time consuming, I am assuming its going to be hard work, but I am really really looking forward to getting started. If I could just find my way around this HUGE campus...

Pants on the Ground!!

American Idol is back!!! And oh my goodness, I have missed it. There were two episodes of tryouts this week and of course they are usually pretty ridiculous due to crazy people trying to make it on TV....and it worked. This guy, the General, is just amazing. This song is so awful and yet I found myself singing it this morning when I woke up. It is unfortunately already become super successful, but oh my gosh its so dang entertaining.

Oh Jake...

So...my girl friends and I have started watching The Bachelor together on Monday nights. Its the most awful show ever and we are all fully aware of this. This of course does not stop us from gathering with cookies and watching the train wrecks as they happen. The girls are all so nutty!! They are crying immediately after meeting this guy, introducing themselves to him as his future wife, and talking so badly about each other when they have all JUST met!! It is just so insane to watch...and oh so entertaining.

Tonight was the super scandalous episode - "first time something like this has ever happened in Bachelor history." Big stuff. One of the women competing for Jake's heart had "inappropriate relations" with a staffer from the show!! Shock - gasp!! CRAZY!! It was all so very overdramatic and amusing to watch. People crying, gossiping....everyone up in arms about the whole thing.

I don't believe these shows produce real love, I don't think anyone is actually on this show to meet someone - I think they mainly want to be on TV, but it does make for a couple of horribly entertaining hours of fun with the girls.

Christmas 2009 Recap...

Well, Christmas 2009 will also be known as the Blizzard of 2009 in Wichita Falls. Insane. The snow was so so crazy. They had predicted a few inches which I was very excited about, but lets be honest, no one really believed it was going to snow at all. Cut to Christmas Eve morning when I woke up around 9:30am and there was already a couple of inches on the ground. Super exciting. And then...9 hours later...STILL snowing!! I was still completely enamored by it all - watching it, going out and playing in it...fabulous. I forced Keaton to go outside and have a snowball fight with me - very much against his will. Milo absolutely loved the snow, he wanted to play in it all the time. He just sat at the door and watched it come down. Adorable. So a white Christmas was such a fun treat, but I won't lie, but Saturday we were all stir crazy and ready to get out of the house. I was about to go crazy!!

I had a blast being home - got to spend time with Cody, one of my favorite things about Christmas break every year. Was able to see Lindsay while she was in town...been missing her like crazy. It was just a great trip all around. I haven't had a week off of work in months so it was very relaxing. I got so many great presents and I have been enjoying all of them since getting back to Austin.

The weather in Austin is just as miserable as it was in Wichita Falls except with no snow. I would prefer the snow if it was going to be this cold outside.

The National Championship game was last night and the Longhorns just got the short end of the stick. With Colt going out in the first few minutes, all hope was pretty much lost. I thought that Gilbert did a fabulous job, a baby 18 year old coming in and playing his first game in the biggest game of the year...that is lot of pressure. Regardless it was fun to watch it and hang out with people who were also screaming at the TV. Haha.

Tomorrow night is the Cowboys vs. Eagles game, part 2. It is going to be the exact same game that was played last night week and all I can hope is that it is the EXACT same game as last week when we smoked them 24-0. I am so excited about the game and the playoffs, its about time we actually looked like a decent team with a chance!!!
